Graduate Curriculum for Master's Students

The MS program consists of two options: thesis and non-thesis.

  • The program option with thesis requires successful completion of a minimum of 21 credit hours of course work (seven courses with credit), non-credit IE 590 Graduate Seminar, non-credit RME 500 Research Methods and Ethics, and non-credit Master's Thesis. Each master student in this option should enroll to: IE 590 Graduate Seminar once during their MS program period (but not in the first semester), and IE 591 Special Studies every semester starting from the assignment of the master's thesis. Credits for IE 591 is not counted in the required total minimum credit hours (21 credit hours mentioned above) towards the MS degree.

  • The non-thesis MS program requires successful completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours of course work (10 courses with credit), non-credit RME 500 Research Methods and Ethics, and non-credit IE 592 Graduate Project.

* In addition to the above elective courses, courses from the departments having programs in our Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences may be taken with the approval of the graduate advisor of the student and the department head. These will be counted as elective courses as well. However, only up to 6 credit hours of such courses can be counted towards the degree requirements.
