FACILITIES & LABORATORIES

All our students and the staff are free to use the Çankaya University Laboratories. Furthermore, Industrial Engineering Department has its own laboratories providing all departmental students an opportunity to have experience on various areas. Industrial Engineering students freely use these laboratories during the working hours and even they have the opportunity to work as laboratory assistants for which they have social security and also some payment. The department continuously improves its facilities by following the technological developments and is intended to add new laboratories including Human Factors Laboratory which is under construction.

OTHER FACILITIES

  Flexible Manufacturing Systems Laboratory

Preparing our students for tomorrow's technology challenges

A new and highly automated flexible manufacturing laboratory is built in room A207, 208 and 209. The Manufacturing System consists of two CNC machines of high level technology and a 5 axes robot. One of the CNC machines, the milling machine, is the part of a Machining Center. The other CNC machine, the turning machine, is the element of the Turning Center. Each CNC machines are connected to computers over their controller boxes.  The gravity feeder, feeder and the two racks are the secondary components that completes a small FMS.

Some main courses of the department such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems, Principles of Production Engineering, etc. and various elective courses such as Material Handling Systems and Bulk Material Handling, etc. would be supported by laboratory implementations by using these CNC milling and turning machines,  and the robot system.

Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Laboratory

Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Laboratory is currently located in Room A207 with a system room in A208. The laboratory schedule is updated every semester based on the IE course schedule. The laboratory is open between 9:00 and 17:00 to all IE department except for the laboratory lecture hours. This lab is primarily used for teaching our core industrial engineering courses and also for our students to study and do their assignments such as homework and projects. Various licensed sofware programs that are very important for industrial engineering curriculum are installed on the computers. The lab has 30 student systems, 1 instructor system and it is equipped with 1 server, all connected to the university network and internet. All the computers have a "Mute Multiplier Convertor System" that enables the students to see the instructor's computer screen on their own. This way, the teaching and learning becomes very easy and the communication between the instructor and the students gets better.

  Laboratory Rules

The following rules are obligatory and should be taken into consideration seriously for keeping the Optimization and Simulation Laboratory in best conditions:

  • Optimization and Simulation Laboratory is for the use of Industrial Engineering Department and  for educational/academic use only.

  • Submit your University ID card to the lab assistant/technician when entering and do not forget to take it back before leaving.

  • Game playing and some of the internet services like chat are not permitted.

  • Eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed in the lab.

  • You are not allowed to use cellular phones in the lab. Turn off your cellular phones when entering the lab.

  • You are only allowed to run the software that is readily installed on the computers. You are not allowed to install any software on the computers. If you need any academic software to be installed, you should indicate the software name, the purpose why you need it and how the software can be obtained in written format to the laboratory personnel.

  • Lab property must remain in the lab. Taking equipment out of the lab is not permitted.

  • Do not rearrange the devices and if there is a problem, do not try to solve it yourself, inform the lab assistant/technician.

  • Work quietly and neatly and keep the noise level to a minimum.

  • Check your computer before using it. After you logged in you will be responsible for any activity that occurs on the computer.
