According to the Institute of Industrial Engineers:
"Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people,
material, equipment, and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skills in the mathematical, physical and social
sciences together with the principles and method of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the
results to be obtained from such systems."
Industrial Engineering is different from other engineering
disciplines because of its broader scope and its focus on people. For
instance, whereas mechanical engineers deal with analysis, design,
manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems using engineering,
physics, and materials science; industrial engineers deal with analysis,
design, improvement, and optimization of broader-scope systems using a combination of various analytical methods such as mathematics,
probability and statistics, physical and social sciences, and engineering design.
What Distinguishes Us
What makes Industrial Engineering at Çankaya University unique is a combination of several factors.
We consider our department with all its members and alumni as a growing family.
Our department was established as one of the first two engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering at Çankaya University.
Among the non-profit universities in Turkey, it is the second industrial engineering department having undergraduate program graduates.
As of 2015-2016 academic year, more than 800 alumni of our department are working in various areas.
All of our students are enrolled with scholarships, according to their academic performance from the ÖSYM entrance exam.
We continuously improve our department, and our efforts has led to recognition of our department by Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK).
At our department, we have an experienced faculty,
holding degrees from well-known and reputable universities from Turkey and abroad, providing a broad spectrum of
expertise in various industrial engineering areas.
English is the
medium of instruction, providing a global advantage to our students
Our curriculum is refined with courses designed to provide students with
hands-on experience, including summer trainings and Systems' Analysis, Design and Implementation courses during which groups of our senior students work on real-life
problems in partnership with various production and service companies in Ankara. Industry-university relationships, and hence,
real-life projects provided through this relationship help our students apply their theoretical knowledge and
gain experience before they graduate.
Undergraduate students who satisfy certain requirements may also apply 13 departments for a double major degree or 16 departments for a minor program certificate.
Industrial Engineering Club, is the first established student club out of about 60 student clubs in our university.
Our undergraduate program was first accredited in May 1, 2013 for two years by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) and awarded the First Cycle EUR-ACE Certificate. Our dedication to quality education has been rewarded with an extension of three more years for the MÜDEK accreditation and the award of First Cycle EUR-ACE Certificate until September 30, 2018. Our graduates during the award period carry the certification on their
diplomas, recognized for their B.S. degree in Europe and some other countries.
Erasmus Programme is a European Union education and training program which aims to increase the quality of higher education in Europe.
For this purpose, the Programme promotes the co-operations between higher education institutions (HEIs) in Europe. These partnerships and mobility
activities are financially supported by the program. Besides HEI co-operations, Erasmus Programme promotes the cooperation between HEIs and
labor market so that universities would meet the need of labor market and graduates would have better employability opportunities.
Industrial Engineering Department is one of the departments in
Çankaya University that contributes by participating the Programme. Please see this link for further information.
Summer Training in Europe with YİTAK
Ankara Consortium for New Work Experiences (YİTAK) is a consortium that is financed by European Union under Erasmus+ Program.
The consortium is sending students to EU as interns for 594 months in total. Ankara Chamber of Commerce is the coordinator of this consortium
is a European Union education and training program.
Çankaya University is one of the coordinators and partners of this consortium. Please see this link for further information.
Opportunities for Double Major & Minor Programs
Undergraduate students who satisfy certain requirements may also apply a second department for a double major degree or a minor program certificate. Those students who graduate from their own program and a major degree program receive undergraduate diplomas from both departments, whereas those students who successfully complete a minor program receive a certificate from their minor program along with an undergraduate diploma from their own department.
Undergraduate programs of the following departments offer Industrial Engineering undergraduates major and minor programs:
Electronic and Communication Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering
Banking and Finance
Political Science and International Relations
In addition to these departments, our undergraduate students have the opportunity to have minor in Architecture, Interior Architecture or City and Regional Planning if they satisfy the necessary requirements.
Admissions and Tuition Waivers
Information about admissions, tuition waivers and scholarships are available at Families and Prospective Students of Çankaya University. The admissions quota for the undergraduate program at Industrial Engineering Department for the 2016-2017 academic year is given below:
