It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Industrial Engineering (IE).
Our department, established in 1997, is the second IE department in the non-profit foundation universities in Türkiye. The first IE degree was awarded in 2001. Since then, we have graduated numerous successful alumni. Our undergraduate program is accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK), which is a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE). Our programs are highly ranked in various national and international rankings, including Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Çankaya University Industrial Engineering Club (IEC), established in 1998, is the first student society at our university. IEC helps our students improve themselves academically and socially to be the Industrial Engineers of the future by organizing social and educational activities.
Industrial Engineers have an arduous responsibility to apply science to solve complex real-world problems pertaining to socio-technical systems. This requires us to have a strong foundation in science, especially in mathematics, statistics, computing, and physics. This foundation is the very enabler to moving back and forth between the real problem and the model of the problem created in the synthetic world of science to find the best course of action to solve the real problem creatively. To be successful in today’s globally competitive market, the scientific knowledge we try to pass to our students should be used in the best effective and efficient way possible. Thus, we emphasize the crucial experience of our senior students in systems analysis, and the system design course covers the final year of our students. It is the most critical instrument to pass the tacit knowledge of problem solving in real life.
If you like to look at complex organizational and societal problems from a holistic perspective and develop innovative solutions that increase efficiency and decrease cost, here is the correct place to start. We are committed to providing our students with a warm learning environment enriched by our dedicated faculty and staff.
We are looking forward to working with you in your endeavor to become a successful industrial engineer.
